Fontainebleau

Our second day of Paris and we are off again! We chartered a coach, or bus, and went off to Fontainebleau outside of Paris. We really liked the experience because we got to take pictures INSIDE of this building.

This is the building, notice the staircase at the entrance. It is shaped like a horse shoe and one of the most famous staircases in France.

This is the chapel inside the chateau. The ceilings in the whole structure are gorgeous!

The decor in Fontainebleau is outrageous! It is way over the top, a little more than I can handle, but it is beautiful. This vase was pretty tight though!

Here is Whit and I in front of some fresco paintings and this awesome marble staircase!

Paris!!!

So we are finally here! After 3 wonderful weeks in London, we arrived in Paris! The change of scenery was nice. Not like we didn't enjoy England, we were just stoked to go to France. We took the Eurostar (the Chunnel) which is a train that goes 200 miles per hour underneath the English Channel over to France. It took us about 3 hours, which is incredibly reasonable considering the distance. The journey from the Metro to our hotel was quite an episode. Once we got to our Hotel though, it was amazing. I can see the Eiffel Tower right out the window of our room.

This is not the view from our window, but we did go immediately to the Eiffel Tower after we were done eating dinner. This is the view from the Eiffel Tower park. Isn't it gorgeous?

The second day in Paris we went on a walking tour. This is just a building we saw on our way to the Louvre. As you can see, it is the largest "planted" wall. Yup, those are plants out of the building!

This is a picture of the Arc de Triumphe, from a distance. I had to run out in the middle of the street to catch this view. The Arc is HUGE, but it looks tiny.

This is just some other cool views of Paris...

The Museum of Costume in Bath

Along with the Roman Baths Museum, we got to go to another museum called the Museum of Costume where they had tons of articles of clothing from all time periods throughout the world. Currently they had a huge display by a designer named John Bates.

This is one of my favorite outfits by Bates. I love old 60's retro clothing. Look at that stunning pose!

Here is Kaylee, Brighton, Seth, and Corrine trying on corsets. They had a whole room dedicated to trying on these corsets. Somehow, we talked Seth into sporting one!

The City of Bath

This is the famouse city of Bath about 2 hours outside of London. It is one of the most beautiful cities in England. It is named after the Roman Baths that were built there in the 1st century and still exist today. There is a whole museum and everything that you can walk through and learn all about the Baths in ancient times.

This is the "Royal Cresent". It is one huge building shaped in a U that is amazing. There are little columns on each building. The whole city looks like this. It is beautiful.

This is me in the world famous red phones booths of the U.K. I thought Bath would be a perfect place to get my picture in one!

This is a picture of the Cathedral that is adjacent to the Roman Baths. The building on the right side of this picture is the building/museum where the Roman Baths are.

I just thought this entry way to a house was beautiful. It was right before we got to the Royal Cresent, I looked down and there was this gorgeous little garden!

Here is another view of the Roman Baths. You can't see really well, but it is raining behind me. The water looks really gross and green, but you would be suprised to know that there is a fresh water spring running into it.

Scenes of Scotland

This is a picture of the Broken Arch in front of Culzean Castle. I thought it was gorgeous. I think this is where the gate used to be to the castle.

This is a picture of the Robert Burns' Memorial in his park by the Brig O' Doon. It is in the middle of a rose garden.

This is Kaylee and Whitney hiking to Culzean Castle. We joked about being on a hike at Girl's Camp, but it was much greener and more beautiful than anything we'd ever seen at Camp Timberlane!

Brig O' Doon

This is the Brig O' Doon House, where we saw another wedding take place. It is a little hotel on the Doon River.

This is a famous Bridge (Brig) in Scotland that Robert Adams actually wrote a poem about. It is gorgeous over the Doon River that is the most peaceful place.

Us on the Brig O' Doon, Robert Burns would be proud!

Burns' Cottage

This is the birthplace and home of Robert Burns, the famous Scottish poet. We got to go in and watch a little film about his childhood. The garden in front of the cottage was gorgeous.

This is Kaylee, Whit, and me in front of the memorial garden. It was raining pretty hard, the first rain Scotland has seen since April!

This is a picture of us with Margaret, Whitney's fiance's grandmother. This is who we stayed with while we were in Scotland. She was the sweetest lady in the world! She is 91 years old and cooked us meals and told us cool stories. She was the best hostess!

Culzean Castle!!!!

I don't have much to say about these pictures because I couldn't say anything to do it justice. Scotland is the most beautiful place I have ever been and we asked around and everyone told us Culzean is the most beautiful castle. I wouldn't argue for a second. Just take a look....

This is a view of the castle inside the Broken Arch. The gardens in front of the castle are amazing, equipped with palms trees!

This is the picture of the four of us in front of the sea with the castle on the left of us. We are sitting on the wall right on the edge of the cliffs! The weather was so nice, overcast! Completely opposite of London!

This is a picture of me, Whit, and Kaylee inside a tower at the entrance of the castle.

This is Megan, Me, and Whit on the inside of the wall of the castle. Over the edge of the wall behind us is the gorgeous fountain and palm trees.

Our First Day in Scotland!

What a wonderful weekend! I can't believe how much fun we had. Friday morning we woke up early and caught a train to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. These are pictures of Edinburgh Castle. It is amazing! It is literally built into the mountain side.

This is a picture of one of the entrances into the castle. If you notice the girl with the blonde hair hauling an orange bag, that is Whit. In fact all of us had to carry all of our luggage throughout the castle.

This is a view of a part of the castle that has been turned into a Scottish Memorial from inside the castle walls. They have a list of all the soldiers who have fallen and I actually found two Fotheringhams, George and John. My grandma would be proud I am sporting my family heritage.

This is inside St. Margaret's Chapel, the chapel inside the castle. It is known around the world. Suprisingly, it is really small. This is a picture of the alter. We actually were outside when a wedding was taking place and got to hear them play the bagpipes and saw the bride and groom walk out! A traditional Scottish wedding, it was so awesome!

This is a picture of me trying to be serious inside a guard booth in front of the castle. Don't mind the hair, it was raining and it got kind of out of control.
